2022 Paraduxx Winemaker Series North Coast White Wine
Building on our tradition of artful blending, from time to time we craft wines highlighting distinctive styles and varietal combinations. A dynamic and alluring blend of Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris, this limited-production wine takes inspiration from the great Alsatian white blends. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in neutral French oak barrels, it is racy, refreshing and bone-dry, with tantalizing layers of nectarine, peach and green apple, and undercurrents of tropical flowers, ginger and cool-climate minerality.
This beautifully aromatic wine draws you in with luxurious layers of white peach, crisp green apple, rose petal, ginger, honeydew, lychee, and wet slate. On the palate, this wine has lovely weight and texture with bright acid adding poise and energy to the citrus, stone fruit and apple flavors as they glide to a bright, mineral-driven finish.
The 2022 growing season began with some much-needed winter rain that provided moisture to the soils. A pleasant spring ushered in budbreak, with good spring precipitation leading to rapid canopy development and bloom in mid-May. Our North Coast vineyards benefitted from consistent temperatures throughout summer, which provided ideal conditions for both red and white varietals. The arrival of a significant heat event in early September provided a final push to ripeness, while ensuring beautifully concentrated flavors and a somewhat earlier-than-normal end to harvest.
