2021 Paraduxx Winemaker Series Alexander Valley Red Wine Ridgeline Vineyard
In Stock
Our winemaker first fell in love with the wines from Alexander Valley’s acclaimed Ridgeline Vineyard years ago. A dramatic, highelevation hillside vineyard, Ridgeline is ideal both for Cabernet Sauvignon and for Tempranillo, which is why it was chosen as the source for this alluring Sonoma County Red Blend. Inspired by the iconic blends of Spain, this robust,full-bodied red combines the vivid violet and white pepper qualities of exceptional Tempranillo with the depth and richness of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Wine Profile
Production Notes
Varietal Composition: 54% Tempranillo, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker Notes
Inspired by the famed Super Tuscans, this voluptuous wine draws you in with aromas of tobacco leaf, black currant and violets, with hints of brown sugar, allspice and nutmeg from French oak aging. On the palate, flavors of dark plum, blueberry, licorice, sweet saddle leather and savory spice glide across plush, age-worthy tannins to a long, robustly structured finish.
Production
The 2021 growing season started with a very dry winter, with almost no rain in the month of February. Due to the lack of moisture, there were more frost events, which when combined with an extended period of bloom led to some shatter during cluster formation, resulting in smaller overall yields. Summer brought ideal temperate weather ensuring that the grapes were able to achieve excellent ripeness. While harvest was fairly compressed, with both white and red grapes coming into the winery at the same time, the quality of the fruit was exceptional, producing a stunning vintage of beautifully concentrated wines with deep, alluring colors.
