Wine Profile

Production Notes
Composition: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Zinfandel; Cooperage: 100% French oak - 70% new, 30% second vintage
Winemaker Notes
Beneath luxurious layers of cherry cobbler and sandalwood, there is a majestic rusticity to this gorgeous wine’s aromas that is reminiscent of walking along a Northern California mountain trail, with the smell of pine needles and moist forest floor in the air. On the palate, rich, dark blackberry and black olive flavors are underscored by bright acidity and lovely Cabernet-driven structure, with robust tannins adding length and focus to a lingering berry and spice finish.
Production
2016 was an incredibly successful harvest for Paraduxx. Starting on August 15th with our Rector Creek Estate Viognier and ending on October 20th with perfectly ripened Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, the season was seamless. Overall, we harvested 15 different grape varieties from 14 different Napa Valley appellations. The growing season was filled with warm sunny days, intermittent cool weeks, and no rain events to speak of—all of which were ideal for achieving perfect ripeness with good natural acidity. Overall, there is a lovely elegance to our 2016 wines, with soft, velvety tannins and ripe, impeccably balanced berry flavors.

I have had several Duckhorn wines, but never the Paraduxx X2. We decided to bring this with us to our favorite steak restaurant. This wine has become my new favorite. My husband isn’t a huge red wine drinker and he was impressed with this wine. It’s very smooth. I would recommend enjoying it with steak, pork, or chicken. I will be buying more of this in the future! I completed this review in exchange for compensation and free product, but all views are my own.

This was my first introduction to Duckhorn wines and the Paraduxx x2 red blend didn't disappoint.  I usually don't love cabernets, but this was delicious.  I was pleasantly surprised.  My husband and I opened it up after a long workweek and shared it with a spaghetti squash lasagna.  It was incredibly smooth and easy drinking.  I think it would go really well with your Thanksgiving meal or any hearty fall/winter meal.  This would also make a great gift for a red wine drinker.   I completed this review in exchange for compensation and free product, but all views are my own.

This was my first time trying the Paraduxx x2 red blend and I'm already craving another bottle! On the nose, you'll notice notes of blackberry, oak and chocolate. The wine is medium-bodied, has soft tannins with a velvety smooth finish (making it so drinkable!). We paired it with a spicy lamb sausage pizza and it carried itself all the way through to dessert, but I can imagine it will serve well with any spicy cuisine (Indian, Thai, etc), as the flavors really bring out the boldness in the wine. It’s the perfect bottle to take to an upcoming holiday get together or a nice dinner party if you’re looking to impress the crowd!
