2011 Paraduxx Napa Valley Red Wine Rector Creek Vineyard
Our Vineyards Series is a collection of limited-production wines that offer their own inspired variations on the contemporary and innovative style of our Paraduxx red blends. This blend of Zinfandel paired with Cabernet Sauvignon originates exclusively from the rocky soils of our Rector Creek Vineyard, which surrounds the Paraduxx winery.
Composition: 65% Zinfandel, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot; Oak: 100% French oak, 60% new
On the nose, this wine offers classic Rector Creek aromas of homemade raspberry jam and bright red fruit. Hints of white pepper, anise and vanilla add depth and nuance. The entry is soft and polished with silky tannins and abundant flavors of lush raspberry and spice.
2011 was one of the coolest growing seasons in memory. To counteract uneven vine growth, we did meticulous green thinning, gently opened up the canopy to expose the fruit, were judicious in our picking schedule and sorted meticulously both in the vineyards and winery. Due to our quality adjustments the remainder of our fruit fared well despite the October rains. Warm up-valley locations like Oakville, Rutherford, St, Helena and Calistoga were particularly successful, and overall the resulting wines are pure and elegant.
Liquid velvet. Smooth. Delicious. One of my favorite Parraduxx blends.
