2013 Paraduxx Howell Mountain Napa Valley Red Wine
Our Vineyard Series is a collection of limited-production wines that offer their own inspired variations on the contemporary and innovative style of our Paraduxx red blends. This offering is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon paired with Zinfandel that originates exclusively from the Howell Mountain appellation. The region’s 1,800-foot elevation, unique climate and volcanic soils are the key to producing bold, expressive wines.
Composition: 65%, Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Zinfandel; Oak: 95% French oak, 5% American oak, 60% new oak, 40% Second Vintage
From its inky dark color to its bold blackberry and fruit cobbler aromas, this is a rich and alluring wine. On the palate, firm mountain tannins add wonderful structure to a velvety texture and voluptuous dark berry flavors.
The 2013 harvest was early, even and excellent, with all of our Estate fruit in the winery by October 10th. A warm dry spring brought an early bud break and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set. In the weeks after Labor Day, a moderate heat event followed by a period of perfect weather created a dream scenario for end-of-season ripening. Rain was not a factor, and for the second vintage in a row, the quality of the grapes was exceptional throughout Napa Valley.
