Building on the Paraduxx tradition of artful blending, from time to time we craft Napa Valley wines highlighting different styles and varietals. This limited-production wine was inspired by a winemaking technique of fermenting two varietals together that is common in the Côte-Rôtie. We co-fermented Zinfandel with the skins from Viognier grapes and then combined that wine with Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in a blend of the spice, fruit and bramble of Zinfandel, along with the rich texture and floral aromatics of Viognier and the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Notes
On the nose, homemade dark berry jam aromas mingle with hints of fresh-cut grass and rose petal. The palate offers both lush fruit and an inviting savory side with juicy strawberry confection flavors underscored by firm tannins and notes of olive leaf and cedar.
Production
2012 offered near-perfect growing conditions. Warm weather during bloom allowed the vines to set a large crop with increased yields were the result of more berries, not larger berries. Slightly cooler-than-average post-veraison weather, and a lack of any heat events allowed for greatly extended hang time. Harvest was 2-3 weeks later than average, and the grapes arrived at the winery in pristine condition.
