This limited-production bottling highlights the bramble, raspberry and spice of great Zinfandel combined with the vibrant red fruit of Merlot to create a rich, round wine with lush appeal.

* The aromas offer lush fruit and spice with layers of red plum and blueberry, as well as hints of tarragon and clove
* The entry is soft and full with ripe, voluptuous fruit that echoes the aromas and subtle notes of green olive and black pepper
* Resolved tannins and balanced acidity support the fruit, adding length and definition to the mid-palate and finish
Production
In one of the coolest growing seasons in memory, we benefited greatly in 2011 from our 35 years of experience farming. To counteract uneven vine growth due to unusual spring weather, we did meticulous green thinning, gently opened up the canopy to expose the fruit, were judicious in our picking schedule, and sorted meticulously both in the vineyards and winery. Due to our quality adjustments our fruit fared well and warm up-valley locations like Oakville, Rutherford, St, Helena and Calistoga were particularly successful, and overall the resulting wines are pure and elegant.
