Crafted around a core of Syrah and Grenache, our Canvasback blend is rich and refined, balancing elegant tannins with excellent structure and acidity.
Inviting aromas of sweet cherry and berry fruit are underscored by more complex elements of baking spices, fresh herbs, dried apricot and oak-inspired hints of cedar and vanilla. On the palate, this layered blend is soft and rich, with a refined structure, lovely balance and flavors of blueberry and dried cherry that carry through to a long finish with lingering notes of sage, pepper and spice.
Though the 2009 growing season presented certain challenges—from early shatter to late season rain—a thoughtful response in the vineyards yielded smaller-than-normal crops of high-quality fruit. This response included aggressive leafing, an early thinning protocol and a heavy field sort to select only the most desirable grapes.

I received Canvasback as part of my Club selections, and after trying it, ordered 8 more bottles, sharing one with a friend and 'saving' the rest for a special occasion. Opened a bottle Christmas Day to serve with Prime Rib, Yorkshire Pudding, Roasted Beets, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts, and nearly drank the entire bottle myself! This is a terrific versatile food wine, but just as great or better 'on its own'. If it ever becomes available retail I want my TX distributor to carry it so I can sell it in my store!!
