Paraduxx by Valerie Lerch
Valerie Lerch does accurate, finely detailed drawings and paintings of landscapes and wildlife based on 30 years of experience and observation. Currently she has a studio in Lake Almanor, California, where she has spent many summers enjoying the beautiful surroundings and native wildlife. Valerie chose to depict a pair of Buffleheads for the 1996 Paraduxx label. They were an ideal species for her to paint because she often encounters them while hiking and fishing along the banks of the lake. In the winter months, Valerie takes her cue from the ducks and migrates south to her studio in Prescott, Arizona.
Valerie was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she was chosen to attend the Carnegie Museum School of Art at the age of 10. She majored in art at the University of Arizona in Tucson, and later earned a master's degree in fine art from California State University, Fullerton. She has exhibited her work and taught painting classes and summer workshops for many years in Southern and Northern California. She has placed in the top 10 in four duck stamp conteststhree in California and one in Nevada. This experience made her the perfect choice for the 1996 Paraduxx label.
