Mixing 17% Petit Verdot with Zinfandel is a blend that is inviting to me before I even try it. So when I presented it to a mini-tasting group and it was a hit, I was not surprised at all. It is very dark ruby colored and opens with a ripe blueberry bouquet with a hint of boysenberry. On the palate, this red blend is medium bodied, balanced, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of black pepper, blueberry, and black licorice. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors linger nicely. I would pair this crowd pleaser with barbecue steak tips.
